Fit, Fabulous and Nearly Fifty – Gold Coast Birthday.

On Tuesday January 20th I will turn 50 Years young. Big deal – nope. I haven’t celebrated my birthday for over 35 years, but this year is going to be different and here is why.

I have recently been on a bit of a Mind, Body and Soul thing. Actually I started it back in September. Since then I have lost 10 kilograms, got kick ass fi,t and sorted out quite a few things in my life.

I had a plan at the beginning of that little adventure that I wanted to do something BIG for my birthday. Now BIG for me doesn’t mean eating or drinking until I can’t walk anymore. No BIG for me means some kind of physical challenge.

So here I am currently living on the magnificent GOLD COAST and I love the beach and ocean and nature so I decided that I wanted to RUN, yes RUN from the Gold Coast SEAWAY way at the north end of the Coast, to Coolangatta Beach at the Southern end of the coast. If google maps is to believed then it is 31.8 kilometers. Given the detours around Burleigh headland and Currumbin Creek it could be a tad more, who cares, I don’t.

This is what I will doing on my 50th Birthday.

On Tuesday morning January 20th at around 6am,I will catch a bus from where I live to Seaworld at Main beach, a trip that will take around about an hour. I’d leave early but that is the first bus time. On reaching Seaworld I will then walk the rest of the way to the SEAWAY, my starting point, which is another 3 kilometers. By the time I arrive at the Seaway it will be around 7.15 -7.30am.

From there I will then start my run south, destination Coolangatta Beach. I intend to say hello and good morning to as many people as I can along the way.

I have no idea how long it will take me, and I don’t care. I just want to finish this challenge I have set myself, and I will.

If your going to be down at any of the GOLD COAST beaches on Tuesday morning and you see me, then yell out and say hi. I will be wearing this red and white cap with the word HUMANEITY on it.

After I reach Coolangatta Beach I intend to head straight to Mc Donalds and grab a ice cream cone and sit on the beach and eat it. There you go, thats how I am going to turn 50 this week on the GOLD COAST.

The World Spins,

Mark.

PS: I will write all about it here after I am done and dusted…..
